Education & Career
Investing has always been a passion and great personal interest of mine. I feel fortunate to have studied the works of visionaries Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffet, Peter Lynch, and Jack Bogle. All four stress the value of low-cost investing and the unpredictable nature of financial markets.
I graduated from the University of Vermont in 2003, where I studied Economics and Business. Upon graduation, I changed course and took to the skies, flying a variety of jets and turboprops in the world of corporate aviation.
In 2013 the opportunity presented itself to shift back towards the financial world. I realized the investment industry was in need of a serious change, and I wanted to be a part of the solution. I believe the mathematics behind indexing are simply inarguable.
I've been a Financial Advisor with One Day In July since the early days. It was clear from the beginning this was a company that truly understood what it means to do right by their clients, providing low-cost fiduciary financial advice.
Investing Thoughts
- The stock market often tends to transfer money from those with outsized egos, impatience, and unchecked emotions to those that have a properly allocated indexing strategy patiently executed.
- Automate your savings and investing. Establish recurring transfers, moving a portion of every paycheck not only into your 401k, but also into investment accounts designed to serve the medium and shorter term. There can be no investment without savings.
- Tune out the noise. Wall Street was screaming "buy" at the peak of the tech bubble and CNBC was airing "markets in turmoil" specials during recent buying opportunities.
Growing Up & Today
I am a proud native Vermonter. I grew up in the Champlain Islands, and I’ve stayed close to my roots. My wife and I are now raising our two children in Shelburne, VT. We enjoy the abundance of outdoor activities this fine state has to offer in all four seasons. Boating, hiking, soccer, skiing, and men’s league softball are a few of my favorites.
