One Day In July’s founder and CEO Dan Cunningham grew up in Bennington, Vermont. “We place a large focus on building relationships with our clients. Every client has a dedicated advisor – someone who really understands their situation and knows their history,” says Cunningham. “People like having a local option. They want to be able to walk into their financial advisor’s office and build a relationship with a real person.”

As fiduciaries on every account, for every client, One Day In July advisors are legally and ethically bound to act in their clients’ best interest at all times. We do not sell commission-based products and never accept compensation for choosing particular funds. Portfolios are built using only what is best for the client, with the goal of growing and preserving wealth over the long term through clear, cost-effective strategies.

One Day In July was one of just five New England-based investment advisory firms ranked in the top 50 by USA Today and Statista Inc. on their 2025 "Best Financial Advisory Firms" list. Learn more here.

What is a Fiduciary?

Being a fiduciary means that we are legally and ethically obligated to always put the interests of our clients ahead of our own.

Types of Accounts We Manage

One Day In July serves a wide variety of clients throughout New England and across the United States. Our clients range from high-net-worth individuals to middle-income families; from foundations, nonprofits, and small and large business owners to young investors and retired investors.

Low Fees Matter

It is almost impossible to overstate the importance of low fees in investing. A difference of 1% in fees over an investment lifetime can add several years of work to retirement.

Index Fund Investing

An index is a group of companies that make up a specific market sector or asset class. When you purchase shares of an individual company you are exposed to only that company’s gains or losses. When you purchase shares of an index fund you are purchasing exposure to all the companies in the index it tracks, all at once.
